Jamia Millia Islamia calls for official investigation into police behaviour

The Jamia Millia Islamia university in India has called for an official inquiry after police entered its campus this month and allegedly beat students in ongoing disorder related to a controversial new citizenship law.

Police action on 15 December at the institution’s New Delhi base “irreparably harmed the psyche of the students” and involved “destruction of valuable property and infrastructure that takes years to build” university officials said in a statement.
