Japanese library group strikes open-access deal

Cambridge University Press deal with over 500 Japanese university libraries includes ‘read-and-publish’ option

A Japanese consortium of over 500 university libraries has signed a three-year open-access agreement with the UK-based academic publisher Cambridge University Press.

Under the agreement, members of the Japan Alliance of University Library Consortia for E-Resources including the University of Tokyo and Kyoto University can choose to have a traditional subscription to the publisher’s journals, a new-style ‘read-and-publish’ deal, or to opt out entirely.
